In the artist’s words. A curated excerpt from the descriptive profile distributed via Apple Music’s artist ecosystem, detailing influences, inspirations, and album insights from THE POET PHOENIX JAMES.
APPLE MUSIC: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail.
THE POET PHOENIX JAMES: It was receiving Michael Jackson’s BAD album on vinyl record when it was first released. I don’t need to tell you any more than that!
APPLE MUSIC: What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular?
THE POET PHOENIX JAMES: A Patchwork Remedy For a Broken Melody, Phenzwaan Now & Forever, The Love So Far. It’s a really hard one to choose only three, but I feel these three albums together represent a well rounded collection of Phoenix James’ evolution as an artist and my best recorded spoken word poetry work. Light Beams From The Void is definitely one too.
APPLE MUSIC: Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song.
THE POET PHOENIX JAMES: “Dream Angel” Everyone says there’s something really special about this track. People always mention it and say how much they love it! It just captures something that I guess resonates with them in a big way.
APPLE MUSIC: What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far?
THE POET PHOENIX JAMES: One of the most memorable moments in my career so far is recording tracks for The Love so Far. It’s not the best of all the memories, there’s too many, but definitely one of them. It’s the most recent memorable moment. My latest favourite experience.
APPLE MUSIC: Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band?
THE POET PHOENIX JAMES: Is there anything left on my bucket list as an artist? Yes, so much. The list would be more than I can write here but being able to share my recorded works here (Apple Music) is definitely one of them for me as an artist for sure. Phoenix James to the world!
