Beyond Performance, an enlightening short documentary by a group of first year university film students highlights Phoenix James and some of his work as he talks about his acting and how he became an actor, inspirations & interests, the most important task of being an actor and his words to young people who want to become actors.We also hear from some of his friends and fellow artists speaking about their experience of working with him. Phoenix James completes shooting on a special film pitch for A Gulf Between where he stars as Fenton Inyang alongside Halmat Salih as Daniel Assange. A Gulf Between is a drama action thriller of betrayal and espionage between two university friends who build up a successful corporate business together. The CEO Daniel Assange, owner of the company enters the Global Market, but his immoral integrity clashes when his friend/Personal Assistant, Fenton uncovers tax evasion files.
Phoenix James is among the nominees in the “Best Actor” category for the 2011 Black Entertainment Film Fashion Television & Arts Awards. BEFFTA Awards is a distinctly special awards ceremony honoring the best showbiz and entertainment personalities in the black and ethnic communities in the UK, USA and globally and allows the hard work of these artists to be recognised allowing fans & supporters to vote for their favourites. Voting begins 1st October 2011. The deadline to vote is 14th October 2011.
